HOBBIES AND PERSONAL INTEREST
Tennis is my passion. The more time I spend on the tennis court, the happier I am. In recent years this has meant, for example, that I haven´t had a social life as nearly as active as much as my school friends have. But, of course, I enjoy spending time with my friends, but if I must choose, I’ll always go for tennis. Fortunately, I have a very good relationship with my training partners and my coaches, so largely my social life is the one with the “tennis people,” and I enjoy it.
I’m well-informed about all the important ATP tournaments and participating players. I like to analyze their strategies and their development. I think I have developed good knowledge because I’m often right with my predictions of the encounters.
I am generally interested in all sports, with an emphasis on soccer, which is very important in my countries: Colombia and Germany, and basketball. In the future, I would love to work in something sports-related, preferably tennis.
Besides tennis, I love fishing. I share this passion with my father, and we often combine both activities during our vacations.
Having a large portion of my mother’s family in Germany, I’ve traveled there many times. I enjoy spending time visiting my friends and family.
Another one of my big interests is Geography. I’ve learned a lot about it since I was a little kid. My parents say I have a great memory, so it is easy for me to remember names, places, and facts. For example, my German school in Bogotá regularly participates in a Geography contest, the “Diercke Wettbewerb.” I won it a couple of times among all participants at my school and was one of the best schools in Latin America on at least one occasion.
My interest in Business Administration probably is related to the fact that my family is very Business oriented. That is perhaps why I am attracted to the world of Business and entrepreneurship. I have been exposed to several aspects of the family business since I was little, and I have always been interested in learning all of what it means to run a business. For example, in the summer of 2020, the first summer of the pandemic, when it was nearly impossible to travel, my grandparents gifted my sister and me a virtual summer course at the Universidad de Los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia). So we could choose among various faculties. So my sister decided on Design, and I chose Business Administration. I enjoyed this introductory course in Business, and it convinced me that Business Administration is the right major for me. In the future, I could see myself working in the Sports industry, so after finishing Business Administration, I could imagine specializing or getting a master’s in Sports Management.
DESCRIBE YOURSELF AS A PERSON
I am an outgoing person who bonds and gets along easily with others. I grew up in a Colombian-German family and environment, so I consider myself a mixture of both cultures, and I value and like both equally. I’ve been fortunate because I’ve had the opportunity to travel and train tennis in countries besides Colombia, the USA (Florida), and Germany (first Düsseldorf and then Hannover). In all the other places, I’ve met fascinating and friendly people and made close friendships. I seem to have the ability to make people laugh. I’m also sensitive and empathetic toward others and like being helpful.
I’m a very social and communicative person and sometimes get distracted because I’m thinking about several different things simultaneously. But at tennis, I’m focused. I’m competitive but fair and honest. So I consider myself a very good team and family member.
